Tips for Beautiful Lips with Lip Color and Lip Plumpers

woman applying lip color Your lips are one of the most important focal points of your face, so it is important when applying makeup that you pay special attention to your lips. Two of the best ways to create beautiful lips are to get the most out of your lip color and lip plumpers, as these can dramatically improve the look of your lips without much effort. Here are some quick tips for creating beautiful lips with cosmetic lip color and lip plumper products.

Getting the most out of your lip color

- Before applying any color, concealer or liner, make sure that your lips are nice and hydrated. This may mean drinking a lot of extra water to hydrate your skin and lips, or it may mean applying a moisturizing product to revitalize your lips before you begin coloring them. The more hydrated your lips are, the plumper and smoother they will be, which is the best way to get the most out of your lip color.

- In order to hide lip lines, apply your lip color vertically rather than horizontally. Another excellent tip is to smooth your lips using a wet washcloth gently before you apply lip color. Smoothing out the texture in your lips will create a more even color.

- The best way to get the most out of your lip color is to apply a concealer to your lips first as a primer. Once the concealer product has been applied, apply a light powder to seal the concealer. By applying a primer to your lips before adding color, you will be building upon a better foundation with your lip liners and lip colors, which will create more dramatic colors and longer lasting lips.

- Try highlighting your lips by lightly applying a pale shade of eye shadow that coordinates well with your lip color. Apply it in the center of both your upper and lower lips to add highlights to the color you are already applying.

- You can balance the look of asymmetrically sized lips by using a slightly lighter shade of lip color on the lip that is smaller, and a slightly darker shade on the larger lip.

- Another way to create dramatic looks with lip color is to apply foundation on and around your lips, then further defining the appearance of your lips using an attractive lip liner.

- If your lips already are full and large by nature, then skip the lip liner. Instead, soften the edges of your lip color using an ear swab. Avoid glossy and shiny lip colors and choose smooth or matte colors instead to better accentuate your already full lips.

- If your lips are naturally thin, then choose light shades in order to make them appear fuller. You can better define the lips using neutral lip pencils by drawing the lines just beyond your natural lip line. Apply lipstick to cover your lip defining line. Another trick worth trying is to apply white shadow on the center of your lips over your lipstick, applying lightly and then gently spreading for a nice highlight and improved definition.

- If your upper lip is too thin in relation to your lower lip, or if you are unhappy with its shape, you can create an outline with a lip liner in a color similar to your lipstick. In the center portion of your lip, draw a second line in the precise shape using a brown lip pencil. Apply color over everything, including over the brown line to make your lips look fuller.

- Lip gloss can work wonders when it comes to creating definition and shine for plumper looking lips. After you’ve added your colors and worked in some basic blending and shading, cover your lips with a shiny lip gloss to add some fullness. If you already have plump, full lips, you can skip the lip gloss. If your lips are thinner and you are trying to create a full look, then lip gloss is a good last minute addition to give the appearance of full, hydrated and healthy lips.

- Apply powder to the outside edges of your lips to create a little bit of extra contrast, which will further define your lips, allowing them to stand out as the focal point on your face. If you are going to put so much effort into making your lips stand out, this extra step will definitely help create the results you seek.

Creating pillowy, pouty lips with lip plumpers

- Not just any lip plumper product will do. You absolutely must have a good lip plumper to create enviable lips. Lip plumpers containing drying ingredients like cinnamon tend to be harsh and should be avoided. One of the primary keys to keeping your lips plump is to keep them hydrated, so avoid any lip plumping product that makes your lips feel dry or chapped.

- Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day by drinking extra water. Keeping your lips and your skin hydrated and keeping you internally hydrated will help keep your lips nice and plump.

- When applying a lip plumping product, try to open your mouth as wide as you can, stretching your lips in the process. This will allow the plumping agents in the cosmetic product to get deep into the cracks and crevices of your lips, which will help to fill out the tissue in your lips even more for fuller and plumper lips.

- If you have a good quality lip plumping lotion, try applying it at night. Stretch your lips out as wide as you can and generously apply the lip plumping lotion. When you wake up in the morning, you will have softer, fuller lips and can apply lip liner and lip color to get even more out of your pillowy lips.
