Beauty Tips with Cosmetics

applying mostuizer helps give your makeup a smooth baseEvery woman (and man) can use a few simple tricks to keep themselves looking, smelling and feeling beautiful. There are countless tricks of the trade, and by adding a few to your regime that you need the most you can easily and inexpensively find solutions on those days when you don’t like what you see in the mirror. With summer quickly approaching, stick these tricks in your bag to use on the run.

Here’s a few that my friends and I have used over the years of reading too many beauty magazines. Some of course will work better for certain people, but read through and see if you find something that will help you!

The trends today lean towards natural makeup application, giving your skin a beautiful all-over glow. Making your complexion look flawless while still understating the makeup can be a little perplexing for some people. The first thing to do is to find makeup that is not too heavy so you won’t have it running down your face once you meet the humidity outside. Once you have picked the right makeup, how do you go about applying it so it looks right? Here’s a few tips:

Apply a moisturizer to your skin (while it’s clean, of course), to give your makeup a smooth base to work with. Taking care of your skin from the inside out will make it easier to get that look you’re after. Once you have smooth skin, try using a mineral based makeup and some bronzer for that trendy, sun kissed look (without the threat of skin cancer).

The most important makeup item to keep for everyday use is a concealing stick. This is a quick way to cover up those dark circles after a long night, and will easily hide any dark spots or little blemishes. This will give you a clean canvas to work with when you are applying your other makeup. Make sure to go one shade lighter than your skin so it covers easily.

Even if you are running late, don’t forgo your mascara just because you didn’t apply all your eye makeup. Sometimes that little bit of mascara gives you all the pop that you need.

Make sure to keep your brows manicured all the time. Waxing them is the quickest way to get unwanted hair gone, but keep tweezers handy for those occasional strays. Keeping your brows in tidy order will help you look great even when you don’t have time to get to your eye makeup - especially if you have thick brows. If they tend to get unruly, you can spray a little hairspray on a toothbrush and brush the hairspray through your brows.

One tip that I learned early on was to use hair conditioner for shaving my legs. This little secret has been passed on to many other women from me over the years, but for some reason conditioner leaves your skin super soft, with no razor burn. Now that we’re breaking out the shorts and sundresses, this little bit of knowledge will save you money since you will never buy pricey shaving cream again.

For exfoliating your skin, try mixing table sugar with olive oil. Scrub your skin and rinse. Olive oil is well known as a great all over beauty product, and your skin will glow and be left with the smoothest surface you have felt. You might not be able to stop rubbing your own hands - and it even makes them look younger. You can also find products, such a the Bliss Glamour Gloves, that will deliver a makeover for your hands with essential oils.

With summer comes fly-away hair. When you have those days when your hair just won’t cooperate, don’t get discouraged. Simply rub a fabric softener sheet through your hair. This will eliminate a lot of the static, then you simply smooth your hair with your hand and style it. To leave a little extra scent from your perfume, try spraying a little perfume on your hairbrush and brushing it through your hair. Any little help I can get with my crazy hair I will take!

Finally, did you know that when you drop that compact and your blush (or eye shadow) crumbles everywhere, all is not lost. Simply mix it with a very little bit of Vaseline until it becomes a creamy texture. This will transform it into a creamy version of your favorite makeup until you can get to the store for more.
