Botox Alternatives - Fighting Wrinkles Naturally

woman receiving botox treatmentWomen care about their skin, and the efforts to avoid wrinkles have kept the Botox industry in business in spite of the slumping economy.   For those who are looking for both a more economical route as well as something that incorporates more natural treatments, there are a host of alternatives for you.  Here’s a few things you can you do to keep your skin in tip top shape.

PREVENTION

Of course if you start taking care of your skin early on you will have the best skin over the long haul.  Using sunscreen on a daily basis will prevent sun damage.  Many makeup products now include sunscreen as one of the ingredients; when shopping for a good foundation make sure that sunscreen is included.

When using sunscreen, try to locate an organic sunblock product.  This will keep chemicals to a minimum that come in contact with your skin.   If you think you don’t need sunscreen, then keep in mind that over time, sun damage can cause discoloration, peeling skin and ultimately skin cancer - once of the deadliest cancers there is.

Exfoliation Tips for More Beautiful Skin

salt scrub being prepared for a facial treatmentOur skin is the largest organ of our body, and the one that is visible to everyone.  It just makes sense that we would want to keep it looking it beautiful - especially our face!  That is the part ourselves that everyone looks at first.  Exfoliation is an important part of the beauty regime, but don’t think that you have to do expensive peels and spa treatments to get the results you want.

Maybe you have heard of exfoliation, but aren’t quite sure what it is.  I didn’t used to know, either, but it has been a lifesaver now that I do it!  Exfoliation is the process of “scrubbing” the dead cells off your skin to reveal the healthy new cells underneath.  This gives your face (or arms, back, etc) a definite healthy glow since the dull cells are scrubbed off.

Exfoliating can be done at home or in a spa setting.  When doing it at home, you have the choice of using microdermabrasion tools or scrubs.  Knowing your skin type and not skimming on producing will help you find the perfect dermabrasion tools for you.

EXFOLIATION AT HOME TOOLS

With the increased emphasis on dermabrasion, manufacturers have come to meet the demand.  One of the more popular tools is the Clarisonic Face Brush.  Developed by the makers of the Sonicare toothbrush.  This product is a tool that has two attachments that are used in or out of the shower to gently scrub the dead cells off.  It works in a circular motion, and can be used for men and women.

The Do’s of Choosing the Best Skin Care Products

When you are looking for the right skin care products, there are some important things you should be doing. Here’s a look at some of the do’s of skin care product selection.

- DO know what type of skin you have. You may have oily, dry, normal, combination, or sensitive skin. Some products work better for certain types of skin. So, don’t shop for these products without knowing your own skin type.

- DO be careful when products proclaim "miraculous" results. If it sounds like it’s "too good to be true" then more than likely it is. Go with reputable product lines that are effective, but beware of anyone making outrageous claims.

Applying Eyeshadow: My Tips and Tricks

woman applying eyeshadow“The eyes are the window to the soul” is a phrase that exemplifies the importance the role of your eyes carries. I never really bothered with eye makeup until I hit my thirties, and suddenly realized that I had tired looking eyes, complete with dark circles underneath. I had to start from scratch, since any eye makeup experience I had involved blue eye shadow from my high school years. If you are looking for ways to improve your eyes by applying eye shadow properly, here are some things I have learned over the past few years.

The most important part of applying eye makeup is preparation. Simply learning how to apply eye shadow is not enough. Before you start, make sure that you have applied a good concealer under the eyes to mask any dark circles. Keeping your eyes moisturized at night is important for overall reduction in line appearance - and of course, a good night’s sleep is essential.

Budget Beauty Tips

set of beauty productsIn today’s economy, everyone is nervous about finances.  It seems that for everyone money is short and anxiety is high.  Despite that, your appearance is important, and you want to take care that you are keeping it up.  The important thing to remember is just because your finances are a bit tight you do not have to sacrifice your beauty routine.  In fact, there are lots of great money saving steps that will keep you looking great, and anxiety free!

One big key to saving help save your money is to make your beauty products and supplies last longer.  For example, and be honest.  Most of us women have a couple of tubes of lipstick that have some left in the tube, but you just cannot get to it.  Or perhaps your favorite lipstick broke.  Instead of running out and buying a brand new tube take a bit of time to reallocate that lipstick.  Grab a pillbox and scrape that unused lipstick into it.  You will be surprised at how much there actually is, and you will be able to hold off on spending extra money for a while.  To make it look like a beautiful new pallet all that you need to do is pop them into the microwave for a few seconds so that they melt into place.  Then pop them into the fridge to harden.  After that, no one will be able to tell that you simply recycled your used lipsticks.  Instead, it will look like a pallet that you bought from the store.

Beauty and Massage

woman receiving the benefits of a good massage“The skin is an organ, widely connected to the rest of the physiology as well as the mind. It is natural that like the rest of you, your skin is also affected by stress."

- Rama Kant Mishra, Dermatologist

…………………………..

Stress is probably one of the main reasons one would think to get a massage. And why not? We work hard all week and some of us continue even after we punch out at the office. This may also be the same reason the massage got the name of being an unnecessary frivolous pampering session.

There is more to the mechanics of massage than just pampering yourself.

For years people have indulged themselves in a little known pampering session called a massage.  It can be a thirty minute treatment all the way up to an hour.  These indulgences at times appear just as that……..as an indulgence and not a necessity.  As frivolous as a massage may seem, it actually has a direct effect on the body’s health and well being.

Massages have been proven to improve the blood circulation.  Proper circulation is vital to the health of the body’s cells.  Cells undergo a lot of mistreatment on a regular basis.  When the stresses of the every day lifestyle come into play, naturally the risk of premature aging in the skin and muscle tissue are directly effected.
