Beauty Tips for Applying Lip Color and Lip Gloss

applying lipglossLooking for a way to give that instant facelift without a lot of time? Knowing how to pick the right lip color or lip-gloss and how to apply it makes your time in front of the mirror a lot faster. By having the right products on hand, you can quickly get ready for a day on the beach to a night out without a lot of fuss. We’ve all tried buying a lip color only to discover it’s all wrong for us, or had the dud brand that left melted streaks on our lips. So how do you find the right product and apply it?

Choosing your lip color is the first thing you need to do. Once you find the right color for your skin tone, you can pick the shades in that range for the time of day or event. Here’s a few hints for lip colors:

Fair complexions look best when paired with warm colors. Think of peachy or warm pinks and browns. If you go for red, find one with a slight blue tint. If your skin is more olive toned, avoid pinks, orange and red. Wear light brown, or a chocolate red. Those with dark skin look best wearing deep reds and even purple tones, but should avoid pink and orange/red as well.

Once you have a color that works well with your skin tone, it’s time to apply. You don’t want to waste time applying lipstick that will be gone in a couple of hours - get the best look out of your lips for the day.

The first thing you need to do is to outline your lips with a pencil. This will help your color from doing the dreaded “bleeding” or feathering. You can use the same color as your lipstick if you don’t want your color to be noticeable, or elect to go for a slightly darker color for dramatic effects. Your pencil liner will also help you give your lips that pouting look if you line just outside of your lips, or you can minimize by staying inside.

My Top 7 Beauty Tips

My top 7 beauty tipsSo, you’re looking for those top beauty tips? There seems to be a host of advice when you want to find the most important secrets to your beauty arsenal, but the best advice is to keep your top tips simple. Here are the most essential things you will want to do every time - and for special occasions you have all the priming done for your primping.

1) Skin Beauty Tips

Moisturize and keep your skin in the best condition at all times, and you will look radiant even without makeup. Whatever your skin type, make sure to avoid excessive exposure to the sun and wind, always making sure to use sunscreen.

Cleansing and exfoliating are the most important step to beautiful skin. For a budget friendly trick, try adding regular table sugar to olive oil and scrubbing in the shower. Your skin will be silky smooth and refreshed, with all the dead skin rinsed away. After cleansing and exfoliating your skin, remember to moisturize!

Apply moisturizers while still damp to help lock in the moisture, and make sure to pick the right type for your skin. Oil free for oily skin, a thick oil based for dry skin and alternating between the two if you have combination skin. Make sure that you are applying moisturizing products to more than just your face - pay special attention to your dry skin areas on elbows and knees, as well as the rest of your body.

Beauty Tips with Cosmetics

applying mostuizer helps give your makeup a smooth baseEvery woman (and man) can use a few simple tricks to keep themselves looking, smelling and feeling beautiful. There are countless tricks of the trade, and by adding a few to your regime that you need the most you can easily and inexpensively find solutions on those days when you don’t like what you see in the mirror. With summer quickly approaching, stick these tricks in your bag to use on the run.

Here’s a few that my friends and I have used over the years of reading too many beauty magazines. Some of course will work better for certain people, but read through and see if you find something that will help you!

The trends today lean towards natural makeup application, giving your skin a beautiful all-over glow. Making your complexion look flawless while still understating the makeup can be a little perplexing for some people. The first thing to do is to find makeup that is not too heavy so you won’t have it running down your face once you meet the humidity outside. Once you have picked the right makeup, how do you go about applying it so it looks right? Here’s a few tips:

Apply a moisturizer to your skin (while it’s clean, of course), to give your makeup a smooth base to work with. Taking care of your skin from the inside out will make it easier to get that look you’re after. Once you have smooth skin, try using a mineral based makeup and some bronzer for that trendy, sun kissed look (without the threat of skin cancer).

Makeup Tips - Applying Makeup for a Natural Look

beauty young woman with a natural lookApplying make up the right way can lead to a beautiful and natural look. However, applying it the wrong way can make you look bad. You don’t have to over do your makeup to look beautiful. It’s important that you learn to apply makeup for a look that is very natural. In fact, going for a natural look with makeup is really quite easy and quick once you learn how to do it. Here are some great makeup tips that will help you to get that natural look so you look stunning all the time.

Makeup Tip #1 - Choose the Right Foundation

This is one of the most important choices you will make when it comes to makeup. The wrong foundation can make you look like you painted on your face. Make sure that you choose a shade of foundation that basically blends away into your skin when you put it on. You don’t want to change your skin color with the foundation, you just want a sheer foundation to go over imperfections and to provide a good base for the rest of your makeup as well.

Applying Eyeshadow: My Tips and Tricks

woman applying eyeshadow“The eyes are the window to the soul” is a phrase that exemplifies the importance the role of your eyes carries. I never really bothered with eye makeup until I hit my thirties, and suddenly realized that I had tired looking eyes, complete with dark circles underneath. I had to start from scratch, since any eye makeup experience I had involved blue eye shadow from my high school years. If you are looking for ways to improve your eyes by applying eye shadow properly, here are some things I have learned over the past few years.

The most important part of applying eye makeup is preparation. Simply learning how to apply eye shadow is not enough. Before you start, make sure that you have applied a good concealer under the eyes to mask any dark circles. Keeping your eyes moisturized at night is important for overall reduction in line appearance - and of course, a good night’s sleep is essential.

Budget Beauty Tips

set of beauty productsIn today’s economy, everyone is nervous about finances.  It seems that for everyone money is short and anxiety is high.  Despite that, your appearance is important, and you want to take care that you are keeping it up.  The important thing to remember is just because your finances are a bit tight you do not have to sacrifice your beauty routine.  In fact, there are lots of great money saving steps that will keep you looking great, and anxiety free!

One big key to saving help save your money is to make your beauty products and supplies last longer.  For example, and be honest.  Most of us women have a couple of tubes of lipstick that have some left in the tube, but you just cannot get to it.  Or perhaps your favorite lipstick broke.  Instead of running out and buying a brand new tube take a bit of time to reallocate that lipstick.  Grab a pillbox and scrape that unused lipstick into it.  You will be surprised at how much there actually is, and you will be able to hold off on spending extra money for a while.  To make it look like a beautiful new pallet all that you need to do is pop them into the microwave for a few seconds so that they melt into place.  Then pop them into the fridge to harden.  After that, no one will be able to tell that you simply recycled your used lipsticks.  Instead, it will look like a pallet that you bought from the store.

Beauty and Massage

woman receiving the benefits of a good massage“The skin is an organ, widely connected to the rest of the physiology as well as the mind. It is natural that like the rest of you, your skin is also affected by stress."

- Rama Kant Mishra, Dermatologist

…………………………..

Stress is probably one of the main reasons one would think to get a massage. And why not? We work hard all week and some of us continue even after we punch out at the office. This may also be the same reason the massage got the name of being an unnecessary frivolous pampering session.

There is more to the mechanics of massage than just pampering yourself.

For years people have indulged themselves in a little known pampering session called a massage.  It can be a thirty minute treatment all the way up to an hour.  These indulgences at times appear just as that……..as an indulgence and not a necessity.  As frivolous as a massage may seem, it actually has a direct effect on the body’s health and well being.

Massages have been proven to improve the blood circulation.  Proper circulation is vital to the health of the body’s cells.  Cells undergo a lot of mistreatment on a regular basis.  When the stresses of the every day lifestyle come into play, naturally the risk of premature aging in the skin and muscle tissue are directly effected.

Sensitive Skin Care Tips For Women

regular baths can do wonders for sensitive skinSensitive skin is a condition that affects over 55% of women and can seem difficult to deal with. It can include tingling, tightening and discomfort. Some women suffer with no visible signs while others suffer from redness, blotchiness, dryness, and visible irritation. Often someone with sensitive skin can find it almost impossible to use products without having a painful or visible reaction that leaves them sore and self-conscious. Sensitive skin is often delicate and has fine pores that may flush easily leaving the person looking red. Capillaries are easily broken and rashes break out with even the slightest irritant. Sun, cosmetics, and even soap can cause the skin to burn, be itchy, or sting.

There are some tips that can help ease the discomfort and minimize allergic reactions that are common with sensitive skin. For example:

- Try adding some vinegar to your bath water. This can help to keep away bacteria that are known to cause infections or rashes. This tends to work especially well during the hot summer months.

- In dry winter months, baking soda can often relieve the itchy, dry harsh feeling when added to your bath. There are two popular methods of using baking soda in a bath.

- If you love a bubble bath or bath salts but can’t find products that are gentle for your skin you can make your own. Take 2 and ½ cups baking soda, 2 cups cream of tartar, and 1.2 cup of cornstarch and mix them together. Place in a covered container between uses. Add approximately ¼ cup to your bath water and you will have soothing bubbling bath salts that will not be as harsh as store bought items. If you are looking to relieve itching or burning sensations then a cup of baking soda mixed with 1 ¼ cups baby oil will do the trick.

Somehow, in the midst of juggling work and family life it is all too easy to forget to take care of your most used appendages. However, your hands are something that are always within view so you do want to find the time to give them a little tender loving care.

The key to finding time in your busy schedule to attend to your hands and nails is to be practical about what you have time and money to commit to. There are great varieties of ways that you can care for your hands and nails so the first step is to decide how you would like your hands to appear.

If you are on a tight budget then chances are you will not have the extra money to keep up with acrylic nails. Additionally, you will need to take a careful look at what your lifestyle involves when you are determining how long you would like your nails to be. If you are someone who is really active in athletics or tends to type a lot on the computer then super long nails are not going to be the best choice for you.
